FEMALE DILEMMAS

Women are oppressed.
It is worthwhile contemplating over the shockingly wide varieties of birth control methods and beauty products designed specifically for females. Similar to birth control, beauty products ranging from mascaras, curling irons, pregnancy tests, tampons all ironically resemble the shape of a phallus that they embody certain qualities that are invasive towards the female body. The female body slowly becomes emasculated by the male dominance.
It is also common to see modern females portrayed in an objectifying or highly sexualizing light on social media, appeasing the demanding nature of male gaze.
In this painting, I attempt to capture and visualize the modern dilemmas women are put through and the visceral experience of being a female in various aspects in modern society.
